CARNIVAL OF CULTURES

Our camp holds an annual “Carnival of Cultures.” Each cabin selects a country and designs and works a booth dedicated to that country’s culture. For example:

Campers decorated a lean-to as a cafe - made menus and served pancakes with cream, Russian favorite.

Denmark: Campers performed the best of Hans Christian Andersen.

Australia: Boomerang toss and “catch the dingo.”

During the carnival we hold a “question and answer” session involving our international staff.

How did the activity increase international understanding and/or cultural awareness among your campers and staff?

Campers and parents learn some interesting pieces of information concerning the featured cultures.
