VESPERS PROGRAM |

|
We have a 15-20 minute vespers program each evening before the campers go to their cabins. Each international staff member
shares during a vespers program. They will tell about their country, traditions, etc. and answer questions from the campers.
WALL-SIZE MAP
We have a wall-size map in our rec hall. We mark where all of our staff members
are from on it, as well as our international campers.
FLAG-HANGING CEREMONY
We hope to implement a flag-hanging ceremony for a permanent display in our dining hall of all the countries that have been
represented at Chatuga.
How did the activity increase international understanding and/or cultural
awareness among your campers and staff?
The campers love learning more about the other countries - seeing their coins, hearing their songs, etc.
Campers become aware that so and so didn’t drive from Scotland! Campers learn about national pride, what the different flags represent ...
The staff have the pride of their country.
