ICCP PARTICIPANT PLACEMENT GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Dear ICCP Participant,

Welcome to the ICCP program!   ICCP works within the values of the YMCA: Honesty, Respect, Caring, and Responsibility. As a participant of the ICCP program, you are expected to uphold these values in everything you do no matter where you are. At the same time, you should always expect our staff in New York and your recruiter overseas to treat you in a way that reflects these values.

We are pleased to inform you, via your recruiter, that you have been placed at a summer camp in the United States. The Placement Notice outlining the specific details of your placement is attached.  If you have any questions regarding the information on your placement notice, please let your recruiter know immediately.

Your next steps include but are not limited to…………….

Immediately start communication with your camp. The placement notice provides you with e-mail, phone, website (if available), address and contact person. Communication should be ongoing until you get to camp. Make sure that ask ALL the questions you have in order to come prepared for camp.

ICCP NY will mail your recruiter the visa documents you need to apply for your visa. Please prepare all documents the American embassy in your country requires to apply for visa. Get your recruiter’s help with this. Do not wait until the last minute to apply for the visa and keep your recruiter informed about the status of your visa.

The camp will pay you the pocket money (minimum $500.00 for first 10 weeks of camp).

The camp will pay you the flight refund (get this figure from your recruiter).

Start making travel plans. If your Placement Notice indicates that you must travel directly to camp, please arrange your air ticket for the arrival date and airport indicated on the notice. If for some reason you are not able to arrange your arrival for the date indicated on the notice, please contact your camp to work out a new arrival date that is acceptable to the camp and you. Notify your recruiter of the new date as soon as you have confirmed it with the camp. Your recruiter must notify us of the change. Your travel information must be submitted to your camp and ICCP NY as soon as travel plans are confirmed, at least 2 weeks before arrival. It is important that you confirm with your camp who will meet you at the airport and how you will recognize that person. It would be helpful to review with the camp the arrival information before you travel to make sure that travel details are clear and understood. If you have questions about your arrival, please ask your recruiter.

If your Placement Notice indicates that you must attend orientation in New York before traveling to camp, your arrival must be at Kennedy Airport on the arrival date indicated on the notice. The ICCP staff in NY will work with your camp to get you from New York to camp.

Each recruiter must conduct a pre-departure orientation which is required for ALL participants.

We look forward to your arrival in the United States,

ICCP Staff
