YMCA AND THE UNITED NATIONS

The International YMCA serves as the World Alliance of YMCAs liaison to the United Nations, based in New York City. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the World Alliance of YMCAs has consultative status with the UN's Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and is thus entitled to make its views known on agenda issues where the YMCA has interest or expertise. It is also an official Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). As an NGO, the YMCA may attend briefings of the Department of Public Information, serve on NGO committees and spread the word about the UN's work.
