Claudio Roberto Nova Alvarez

 

He goes by the name “Niño” and recently finished his studies in Computer Engineering at the University of YMCA Mexico. His aspirations in life includes excelling in his career of computer engineering, help the impoverished, travel the world and ultimately establish a family with 3 children. He has displayed tremendous volunteer work by participating in support groups at his church, worked with community service projects provided by the YMCA of Naucalpan, taught English classes at the central community of the YMCA, and was a YMCA Summer Camp 2009 ICCP participant in North Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri and Texas. While participating in the YAP, Niño anticipates gaining more knowledge about the American culture and infusing it with his culture and community. In addition, he looks forward to supporting teens with their project developments in their communities. He has great pride in his country and believes it is a land of opportunities, and the people are genuine and friendly.

Tannia Cervantes Lastra

 

“Tann” is looking to finish the remaining half of her degree in International Studies. Her life goals include traveling to many countries and working with underserved groups worldwide. She is currently apart of a young adults sports group at the YMCA of Mexico City that are responsible for planning and organizing activities for their community. Moreover, she has volunteered at the camp for YMCA Camohmila. She was apart of a social leaders group in the rural community of Santa Catarina, Tepoztlán Morelos. She had volunteer experience in a summer program in Romford, England. While participating in the YAP, “Tann” wants to help generate participant desire and motivation to improve their communities and to guide them to discover their potential. She would like to share her knowledge, values and experiences as they display the attributes of a leader.
