ALEXANDRA DELGADO adelgado0320@gmail.com

My name is Alexandra Delgado. I am a proud Colombian and I live in Popayán located in the south west of the country.

I graduated from the University of Cauca with a degree in Modern Languages (English/French). My love for languages began when I was young and I have been a language teacher since the year 2000. I have had the great opportunity to teach children, young people and adults at different institutions in my hometown. Right now, I am a full time professor at the University of Cauca where I teach English to students from the different academic programs of the University.

In 2002, I participated on the YMCA International Camp Counselor Program, ICCP and worked as a camp counselor at Camp Combe in Putnam Valley, NY. It was a great experience because I met so many wonderful children and coworkers, I learned a lot and I shared the Colombian culture not only with Americans but also with people from many different countries. In 2008, I had the honor of being selected as the YMCA ICCP delegate at my University and since then I have been working hard to give young leaders the opportunity to participate in the ICCP program to change their lives and help them make their dreams come true.

Some months ago, I was greatly surprised when I was chosen to be one of the Youth Ambassador Program leaders from Colombia for this year. I am really excited and I can’t wait to meet the group and to live that experience that will certainly change my life as well as the young ambassadors’ lives.
