The International YMCA organizes study tours around the world in the spirit of promoting international awareness, peace and tolerance on a global scale. These amazing and inspirational opportunities are open to YMCA volunteers, staff and friends of the YMCA movement who will gain first hand knowledge of the amazing work done by the YMCA's around the world. Please look at the information on this page if you would like to learn more about this program.

Here's what past Study Tour's Participants have to say:

“During the Cape Town Study Tour in December 2009, thirteen YMCA staff from across the United States met these dedicated staff, witnessed unthinkable living conditions of local youth, and interacted with hundreds of children whose lives are better because of the YMCA. The resiliency and passion exemplified by the staff and volunteers of the Cape Town YMCA served to remind us all of the heart and spirit at the core of the global YMCA movement. “

–         Michelle LaRue, Director of Media & Community Relations, YMCA of Pierce & Kitsap Counties (Tacoma, WA), 2009 Study Tour to South Africa Participant

“You cannot know a 'truth' unless you are a witness. This tour was magic - everything about it was perfect - the group, the itinerary, the lectures, the YMCA program visits, the food, the accommodation - everything. Being there brought to life all the articles, books and media coverage of the area, reminded us of our part in the history of the world, changed some opinions and formulated new questions. A trip of a lifetime.”
