* SEVIS is the U.S. Government’s Student &
Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). The SEVIS Fee is
required of all J-1 Trainees and a receipt is required at the visa
interview. The fee is $100, it is set by the
government, and it is
forwarded directly to SEVIS.
**The Certificate is awarded when the full training program is
successfully completed, all evaluations have
been completed, and the
original DS-2019 form is returned to YMCA along with proof of
departure from the
U.S. (such as a copy of the passport with the
departure stamp).
Refund Policy:
Cancellation: In the event of a program cancellation, YMCA will
refund 100% of the accident/illness insurance and 50% of the program
fee, if written notice is submitted to YMCA within 15 days of the
DS-2019 start date and prior to the trainee’s arrival in the U.S.
Program Termination: If a host site or trainee ends the training
program early (before the End Date of the DS-2019), the YMCA must be
notified in writing within 5 days. YMCA will then provide a prorated
insurance refund, calculated using the number of weeks of insurance
remaining after the written notice was received. |
In addition to the program fees, all participants must
buy government mandated sickness and accident insurance. The cost of the
insurance is $58.50/month and must be paid with the program fee. Please include the insurance
fee with the program fee on the same check.

The minimum stay is three weeks; the maximum
stay is eighteen months. Specific dates
must be determined before the application can be processed. Requests to
extend the
stay beyond eighteen months will not be supported by the YMCA nor the
Immigration
and Naturalization Services.
