Hi Everybody,
My name is Eliseo Ramirez, I am 22 and I am from Colombia,
my home city is Ibague-Tolima. What I like the most is studying languages,
actually my majors in the university are languages and business.
Since I was a kid I had always dreamt about traveling
abroad, visiting interesting places and experiencing other cultures. Today
thanks to the International Camp Counselor Program I can say that my dream
has come true.
Many things have changed for me since I started to
participate in the ICCP; I had the chance to share my knowledge, sense of
caring and time with people from my country who really needed it.
Moreover, having the opportunity to be in the United States
of America has helped me a lot, not just to improve my
English, but to see new horizons, to meet new people and to make some good
friends. Also I have had the privilege to share my culture, to be immerse
in the American culture and to be more independent too.
Now that I'm about to go back home, I feel that I have a
strong commitment to the people from my country and I also feel more
confident to teach new and bigger things; for example, the real role of
the core values of the YMCA in the way to build strong kids, families and
communities and the importance of setting goals for your life.
The ICCP experience taught me that when you work hard, and
of course in God's name, there are no boundaries for your dreams. Now I
know that I can reach higher, think bigger and grow greater than before.
Now my challenges are huge and I feel that I am able to reach them.
