To meet the staffing needs of our camp customers, ICCP will pay you $100 for each “Specialty Skills/High Demand” applicant that you recruit. How does this work? You recruit applicants and collect the ICCP application fee. ICCP places the participant. If the participant successfully completes the program you keep the $100 application fee.

ICCP-Recruiter Chats

Technological advances have made it possible for us to communicate more easily for free! In your overseas mailing you should have received a head set with instructions on downloading SKYPE. You may be using SKYPE already. That’s great! Why didn’t you tell us? If not, let’s get you started…

Our aim is to hold monthly ICCP-Recruiter chats to touch base and answer any questions that may arise. It is also an opportunity to learn from each other and share ideas and tips for what works and what does not work.

Lifeguard Program: New Program!

YMCA Lifeguard Program in New York City

Come to New York City and join a team of skilled lifeguards who safeguard our 14 miles of ocean beach and 52 outdoor swimming pools. YMCA-ICCP offers you an opportunity to come to New York City and take part in this program. Our lifeguards return year after year because of the skills they develop, the contacts they make, the chances for upward mobility, and most importantly, because of the gratification they feel saving lives.

Training/Test in New York City: Mid-May

Start/End Dates: 5/25-9/3/07

Starting Salary: $11.75/hour (Room/Board not included)

Application Deadline: January 1, 2007

ICCP is recruiting 500 life guards to work in New York City!

How is this different? These participants will not be placed at summer camps. They will work in New York City at the swimming pools throughout the city and at the public beaches.

The Criteria is very high, therefore you will have to target swimming clubs, Physical Education students, Red Cross, etc for this program.

To qualify for the 40 hour Training Program applicants must:

* Be at least 18 years of age
* Communicate effectively in English
* Have 20/30 vision in one eye and 20/40 in the other, both uncorrected
* Swim 50 yards in 35 seconds or less.

Once you have a strong pool (no pun intended) of applicants (minimum 20) for the program ICCP will send the trainer to your country to prescreen the candidates. If the candidates pass they will come to New York in Mid-May for a rigorous training course of 5-10 days. Upon successful completion of the training course the life guards will be placed throughout the city. ICCP will work to find accommodations at YMCA facilities at a discounted rate.

Life Guards will be paid an hourly wage of $11.75/hour. On average they will work 48 hours/week (6 days/week). Room/board is not included. They will be paid for the days during training.

Important: Candidates should note that it will take a few weeks for their first paycheck to be issued due to payroll issues. All life guards should have enough pocket money to sustain themselves in the city for 3-4 weeks.

The Application Fee to ICCP is $550. This does not include your fee.

As you can see many of the details will limit the eligibility of the candidates. However, once a life guard has worked in New York City successfully, they are welcome back every year at a higher hour wage.

What if your applicants do not pass the prescreening test? ICCP will find a placement for them at camp or at a YMCA facility anywhere in the U.S.

This year our life guards will earn a minimum of $1,500 for 10 weeks.
